Three weeks down! Wow! Last week was so hot! I have to commend the students for handling the heat like champs! They really didn't complain, and they completed all of the work that was asked of them. What more can a teacher ask during a week like that? What a great group of kids! A few reminders: Picture day is Friday! Please have the forms turned in by then! The Ice Cream Social is on Monday. Please have your RSVP turned in as soon as possible.
This Week!
English: We are continuing to work on subjects and predicates of sentences. This is a very difficult concept for students. Please work on it at home as much as possible.
Math:We will learn to add and subtract 10 from two-digit numbers, identify relative values of pattern blocks, make a design with a given value using pattern blocks, write the date using digits, divide squares into two, four, and eight equal parts, and identify and shade halves, fourths, and eighths.
Reading: My reading class will be reading a mystery called Nate the Great: San Francisco Detective. We will also learn about the elements of fiction, make and confirm predictions, and compare fiction and nonfiction.
Science: We will continue learning about the needs of animals.
Social Studies: We will discuss the various jobs and places that make up a community.
