What a great week! The Grandparent's Ice Cream Social is one of my favorite days! It is so much fun to meet the students' grandparents! It is great to see the pride the students have when they show their grandma or grandpa their classroom and desk. Thank you to all that were able to participate!
Picture Day
Please remember that Monday is Picture day. Please send the picture order form with your student on Monday. Our picture time is before gym and lunch. This is great news for special hair styles!
Homecoming Week
We have such an exciting week ahead! Homecoming week is always such a fun time for the community of Orion to show their pride. A note went home in Friday Folders describing the spirit days that we will have at C. R. Hanna.
Monday - It's Picture Day, so dress for the camera!
Tuesday - Wear yellow (each grade level will wear a different color).
Wednesday - Mismatch Day!
Thursday - Charger Day! Wear your favorite Charger gear. This is also the parade day.
Friday - Wear red and black
The Week Ahead
English: We will finish our first English unit on the sentence. We will spend some time reviewing and most likely have a test on Thursday. I will send a note home in assignment notebooks Monday or Tuesday with pages to study for the test.
Math: We will learn to count dimes, nickels, and pennies, write fractions using the fraction bar, write fraction number sentences that equal 1, identify dozen and half dozen, and write a fraction to show part of a set.
Reading: My reading class will read a nonfiction story called, The Olympic Games: Where Heroes are Made. Since we just had the summer Olympics, this will be an exciting topic to discuss. We will also learn the elements of nonfiction, to adjust our reading rate while reading nonfiction, how to make inferences, to use a dictionary, and what antonyms are.
Science: We will start learning about types of animals.
Social Studies: We will learn how to act like a responsible citizen and how we get what we need in a community.
