Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful winter break/holiday season! Last week was a little crazy with the super cold days we had! I'm so happy to see that it is warm enough for the kids to go outside this week. Please make sure they come to school with the appropriate outdoor clothing.

Book Order
I sent a Scholastic book order home in Friday Folders. Please have all orders turned in or placed online by Friday, January 24th. Our online class code is HQWMF. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Report Card Envelopes
Please be sure to send your child's signed report card envelope back to school as soon as possible. This is our way of making sure you have seen the grades.

This Week
English: We are reviewing for our English test. We will be taking the test on Thursday. The students will be bringing their English books home to study from today (Monday), Tuesday, and Wednesday. I will also send a note home showing the pages to study from.
Math: This week we will learn to solve mixed word problems involving all four operations with grams, kilograms, liters, and millimeters given in the same units, round two-digit measurements to the nearest ten on the vertical number line, and round two- and three-digit numbers to the nearest ten on the vertical number line. We will be starting our 5's in multiplication this week. Some students still have not mastered their 3's and 4's. Make sure that your child is practicing all of the facts we have covered. It is important that they retain the previously mastered facts as well as the new ones.
Reading: We will be reading a story called, Papa Tells Chita a Story. We will also be discussing the different spellings of the /or/ sound, how to summarize, how to make predictions, and how to identify synonyms and antonyms.
Science: We will continue our lessons about the rain forest. We will start an in-class animal research project.
Social Studies: We are learning about the history of St. Louis and Cahokia. Ask your child about Cahokia. It is very interesting information!
