Only five school days until winter break! I am really looking forward to all of the activities of the week. I am especially excited for the sing-along that the kids will be doing on Friday. I will be sure to take some pictures!

Pringle Cans
Please continue to send your empty Pringle cans. We will be using them to make an awesome multiplication tool. I need one Pringle can per student. Thank you for you support in this!

Gift Exchange
Gifts for our class gift exchange are due on Wednesday the 19th. Please feel free to send them on or before that date. If you are not going to be able to purchase a gift for any reason, please inform me as soon as possible. The students are really looking forward to this, and it is really neat to see how happy they are to give a gift to a fellow classmate. :)

The Week Ahead
English: We will finish our verb unit on Tuesday. We will review on Wednesday, and then have our test on Thursday. I will be sending the students home with their English books starting Monday so they can start studying. I will also send the students home with a note with page numbers.
Math: We will learn to subtract two digit numbers, write numbers to 1,000 using words, and add and subtract multiples of 100.
Reading: There will be no story and no spelling list this week. We will learn to identify and write topic sentences, we practice following written directions, we will discuss cause and effect, and we will work on comprehension skills.
Social Studies: We will learn about Kwanzaa, and Christmas in Sweden.
Science: We will discuss water pressure as an extension after learning about water ecosystems.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Please feel free to contact me at: bcalcott@orionschools.us with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued support!
