Hi everyone! It was great to see so many dads come in for Donuts with Dad. I can tell how proud the students are to take their dads to their classroom! It's such a fun event! Thank you PTA! I can't believe it is already conference week! Please remember that there are only three days of school this week. There will  be no school on Thursday and Friday due to conferences. I sent a blue note home with each student that indicates the day and time of your child's conference. If you did not sign up yet, please call the C. R. Hanna office at: (309) 526-3386 to set one up. I am looking forward to meeting/seeing all of you this week!

The Week Ahead:
English: We will continue our unit on nouns. We are getting close to the end of the unit. As soon as I have the test date planned, I will send a note home about what to study. In writing, we are learning to stick to our topic as we write. We are also writing an expository paper about Halloween safety tips.
Math: I will be introducing the multiplying by 2 facts. We will also learn to add three or more single-digit numbers, make a table while problem solving, tell time to five-minute intervals, and identify a.m. and p.m.
Reading: Since we have no spelling list or story this week, we will focus on reading strategies in small groups and individually.
Social Studies: We will discuss where people start communities and why.
Science: We will discuss carrying capacity in an ecosystem.

Multiplication Facts
We have just started learning our multiplication facts. Last week, we learned and were tested on multiplying by 0 and 1. This week, we will be introducing the multiplying by 2 facts. Please make sure to practice these facts at home with your child even if they have no fact homework that night.
